Jim Prevor will serve as a keynote speaker. Mr. Prevor is publisher and editor-in-chief of Deli Business and Produce Business magazines, and also the web-based Perishable Pundit which provides daily intelligence to food industry marketers. He is a leading voice for the international prepared food industry, and argues that "Perishables are, and for the foreseeable future will be, the crucial arena for differentiating competition in the food industry". He has won over 100 editorial awards, and was named the first-ever Member of the Year by the United Fresh Produce Association, a century-old national trade organization representing the produce trade. Prevor directs many consumer and trade research projects including a large effort to analyze the dynamics of Wal-Mart's produce pricing on a market-by-market basis and a cross-cultural analysis of consumer attitudes toward sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives .

Lou Cooperhouse, Director of the Rutgers Food Innovation Center, will serve as a keynote speaker, on the topic "Food Trends 2008: Ten Industry Trends that Will Impact Your Business". Lou will also unveil plans for the Food Innovation Center's brand new 23,000 sq. ft. food business incubator that will be opening up this summer in Bridgeton, NJ. This facility will enable the design, development, marketing, analysis, commercialization, and ongoing manufacture of products for sale to retail and foodservice markets. Specialized processing and packaging capabilities will be available in this FDA and USDA-inspected facility. The facility will enable new companies to be formed, new products to be developed, and will provide a vast array of resources and technologies to existing and startup food manufacturers and retailers throughout the region. Lou has extensive business and technology expertise in both entrepreneurial settings and in larger corporate environments. During his career, he has been employed at Campbell Soup Company, Grand Union Supermarkets, ConAgra, and Nestle-funded Culinary Brands where he led numerous new business startups. He was also the Co-Founder, President and CEO of MenuDirect Corporation.

We will review dairy aisle re-invention, secondary locations, organic, kid, grab & go sections, and cross category merchandising to drive sales & profits. |
